Removing a VRM
Step 1. Remove the right side cover. See “Removing and Replacing Covers” on page 116.
Step 2. Power off the cell board using the MP command menu PE command.
Step 3. Verify that the green power LED located on either the left-hand side or right-hand side of the cell
board is off before removing the cell board. See Figure 6-38 for the power LED locations.
Step 4. Press each extraction lever and slide the lock to the unlocked position. Pull the extraction levers
outward to unseat the cell board from the backplane connector. See Figure 6-16 on page 132.
Step 5. Slide the cell board from the chassis. See Figure 6-19 on page 135.
Step 6. Remove the memory and CPU covers.
Step 7. Locate the VRM to be replaced.
Step 8. Loosen the VRM retaining screws.
Step 9. Pull the VRM off the cell board.
Replacing a VRM
Step 1. Insert the new VRM into the socket.
CAUTION Check for proper pin orientation before inserting VRM.
Step 2. Tighten the screws until snug but do not over tighten.
Step 3. Replace cell board memory and CPU covers.
Step 4. Insert the cell board into the chassis.
Step 5. Restore power to the cell board and test.
Step 6. Install the right side cover.
